IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
“Dedication is time, and time is committment. When you want something, you strive for it. Don’t let the fear hold you back.” – Rachel McKay
Who is Rachel McKay?
“I would like to think we are all unique in our own way. I knew I never wanted to work a 9-5 desk job. I would absolutely be bored out of my mind. Moving forward, I have such a passion for the Arts, as well as Athletics. I grew up playing competitive sports, while being heavily involved with Theatre Shows. I was also lucky knowing I didn’t have a normal “high school” job. I worked my way up as a Cosmetician for Shoppers Drug Mart, while co-oping for Rogers TV.”
At the age of 24, McKay has graduated Humber College of Technology and Advanced learning for the Fashion Arts, Business Diploma program. Before she attended college, McKay was awarded, High Skills Major in the Arts. Now, she works at MAC Cosmetics as a Make-up Artist, and when not working for MAC, you can find her on and off camera, whether it be acting, modelling, or contributing doing make-up for photoshoots, film sets, or special occasions. Rachel is enrolled with both a Principal Agent and a Background Agent. She is also involved in promotional modelling and works for several companies that hire her for the bookings. McKay, is also certified in Esthetics, and has her own practice with Eyelash Extensions, and Make-up.
Her ultimate goal in life is to make an awareness in Mental Health, and motivate others to show them that recovery is possible, but it has to start form within.
“I want to motivate others through their struggles, because I have been there. We all have a story. It took me years to overcome something that was holding me back, and now I’ve reached a point in my life where I knew needed to make a change. I want others to be able to live the life I now live – Happy, and in control.”
Today, Rachel has been thankful to have had many opportunities in the film and TV industry. She has been cast for a handful of projects, many Music Videos, Movies, and TV Series, such as Hannibal, Shadow Hunters, Saving Hope, and the new xXx featuring, Vin Diesel. She has also worked with a handful of respected photographers, and continues to explore and start networking travelling to the States. Mckay has now been exploring the fitness modelling world, and competes in shows that showcase her talent. She also says it helps her stay motivated.
“Your life is like a rose waiting to blossom.”
You go girl.
